Anna Wells - INK-Etc - Internet Based Mom
Interview by Alice Seba, Owner of InternetBasedMoms.com

Let me introduce you to a pretty spectacular woman, Anna
Wells. She has impressed me with her determination and drive, I knew that I
had to tell you all about her. Anna is the owner of a printer ink business,
INK-Etc that she runs from her own home in Flippin, Arkansas (USA). Four and
a half years ago, Anna was in need of a job and had been refilling her own
ink cartridges for several years....so, she figured she could make a
business out of it. And she was right! |
|
|
But it hasn't all been smooth sailing. The business was originally
run with her husband of 18 years. He found the products and she
built the website, and rebuilt constantly, trying to find the right
combination of professional but down-to-earth friendly at the same
time. In September of 2003, Anna was divorced (at the age of 48) and
has been running the whole business on her own.
Today, 98% of Anna's business comes from her website. She credits
word-of-mouth as being her biggest clientele builder and her
customers tell her that excellent customer service is what makes
them come back for more. About having an online business, Anna says,
"There are several things I like about working online, but probably
the best is that I can set my own hours." Setting her own hours has
allowed her the time, working with her father, to completely remodel
the house she is living in, "and being the hillbilly that I am, I
can go to work in my bare feet."

Her forward-thinking in business is evident. Kelly McCausey of WAHM
Talk Radio says about Anna, "I am so impressed with her!
She isn't
afraid to learn new skills and lay aside old ways of doing things
that she had grown comfortable with. I can't wait to see her new
website when it is finished! I think she is going to amaze herself
with how well she does." |

Anna is had this to say about working with Mom Masterminds, "When I
came here less than a month ago, I knew next to nothing about HTML,
copy writing, working with tables, and so many other things. With
the coaching from you and Kelly, I have learned so much and am eager
to get my new site finished and get on to the next step of
advertising my business."
Her number one tip for moms running an online business is to set a
schedule, but be flexible, "I try to have set hours for
working...basically 9am to 5pm M-F. My son is 10, almost 11, so he
is able to keep himself occupied, but he knows anytime he needs me
he just has to holler."
Anna's future goals include buying her own car by next summer when
her daughter comes home from spending 2 years in Hungary as a
teacher and needs her car back. Her long term goals include
expanding the business to including employees and having the
business in a separate building next to her house. "So I can hire
someone to take over for me while we take a vacation," says Anna.
Sounds like a great plan to me.
