What you will be doing. Businesses need new leads for their company. With all of the business that they currently do, they do not have the time to research new business opportunities for themselves.

They are willing to pay money to individuals with the talent for finding these things for them.

As a specialist in finding things, you will earn commissions on the deals that you put together. A license is not needed for the niche that you fill since you specialize in bringing the two parties together so that they can hash out the details. You will need to convince the “found” party to meet and work with the company on whose behalf you are acting.

People that chase down business opportunities do so through a variety of avenues. You can use the phone book, the Internet, and contacts that you have in various industries. Depending on the amount of money changing hands, your commission could be quite large.

How to start. Perform initial searches to see what you can find could be beneficial to another business. This could be loan monies, real estate, chemicals, hardware, software, and the like. Once you find these leads, decide who could use them. This will give you an idea of which companies to approach with your business proposition.

Create a company mailing that advertises your skill at finding items in need. Send it out in the mail or via email to all the local small and medium sized companies in your area. Establish a standard commission contract letter. It should outline what you get paid in commission on any deal that is closed. It also should state what fees you earn apart from the commission just for getting the two parties to meet each other.

Start up costs. You will be advertising on the Internet on your website and other sites, and in magazines and newspapers. Since there is no product to store, advertising is your budget for now.

Once you are contracted, you may need to travel to meet with people who are willing to do business with your client. This will require money. Companies may provide a retainer to help with travel costs.

Skills needed. Business lead entrepreneurs should be outgoing people who are comfortable in every surrounding. You will need to be well versed in the business language of the companies that you are dealing with. If you are finding business loans, knowledge of loan processes is essential to get the best rates for your clients.

Setting realistic timelines and sticking to them lends integrity to your business. When dealing with sensitive assignments, time may be of the essence.

Marketing. Setting up a website that advertises your special talents gives people a chance to find out what you can do for them. Use a professional printer to do create your advertisements that you send out to businesses. Using the Internet takes your skills global. Your clients can come from all corners of the world.

Pursuing business leads for companies is a wide open field. Companies will always need something and you could be just the person to help them out. If you have a niche such as loan money, stay with that area and gain as much knowledge as you can to better serve potential clients.
