Just over two months ago, new mother Alice Seba began brainstorming ideas on how she could earn a living from home and extend her maternity leave from work. Having given birth to her first child in September 2001, she felt leaving a one year old in the hands of the daycare system wasn't good enough.
Through her research on the Internet, Seba realized there was a large community of work at home moms with online businesses who needed the support of other moms to find success among the huge corporations. Because of this, InternetBasedMoms.com was born.
"There are many websites that focus on Internet Marketing, but not so many that focus on the issues of work at home moms running online businesses, " says Seba, "Moms cannot always compete with the big hitters like Amazon and eBay. These moms achieve success by sharing ideas and supporting one another in business. InternetBasedMoms.com is the perfect venue for achieving this goal."
The website includes a weekly newsletter with informative articles and tips on choosing and online business, building a web page and promoting on the Internet; there are message boards where moms can share resources; and advertising opportunities for moms to help build their businesses.
In May 2002, InternetBasedMoms.com started as a twinkle in a writer's eye and now typically receives over 3,000 visitors and 30,000 hits per week. Although visitors are typically from Canada and the US, the site has visitors from all over the world including the UK, Australia, Pakistan and Brazil.
In a message to Seba, Vicki Bromagem, owner of Friendof.com, writes "I appreciate the time and effort that you are putting into it to help other mom's like myself. Keep up the good work. I am sure that you will be Blessed for all that you do to help others."
"No, I'm not a dot com financial tycoon," laughs Seba, "but I sure am proud to have created resources for moms who share the same goals as I. A parent at home is a rarity these days and if InternetBasedMoms.com can help just a few moms achieve this goal, I'd say my job is done."
