3 Tips to Help the Search Engines Find You!
Every internet guru will have their own tips and tricks when it
comes to keyword optimization. Here are a couple of pointers to help
you get started; you may find your own personal way to create
effective keyword optimized web pages in time.
#1 Make sure your web pages are coded correctly. There are
three important locations to make sure your keywords are placed.
* If you can, try to get a URL with your primary keyword included.
When you include your keyword in your URL you immediately tell the
search engine spiders what they are looking at.
* Title Tag. Your title tag is the line of text that appears on
search engine results pages that acts as a link to your site. This
is a crucial element of your webpage as it describes to your
visitors what your page is about.
If you view your source code, your title tag will look something
like this: <TITLE>Search Engine Optimization Tips</TITLE>
Keeping your title tags brief, descriptive, up to date, and keyword
rich will help to increase the relevance of your site in the eyes of
the search engines, as well as giving your potential visitors a good
idea of what they can expect from your site.
* Meta Tag. A few years ago, loading your meta tags with keywords
was an almost guaranteed way to get a good position for your site in
the search engines. This is no longer the case, however it is still
helpful to place your keywords in your meta tags.
In your source doe they look something like this: <META
NAME="description">
#2 Keyword strategy.
It helps, when creating web content, to have a keyword strategy.
Here are some tips to develop your own strategy.
* One page, one keyword. Keep it simple and optimize each webpage
for one primary keyword. You may also choose to include a few
secondary keywords that are extensions of your primary keyword.
* Include your keyword in your headings, subheadings and in the
first paragraph of your text.
* Relevant keywords and extensions. Search engines are becoming
incredibly advanced. When they see a particular keyword on a
webpage, they search for other related phrases they would expect to
see there because they are commonly used with the keyword.
If the search engine spiders find these related words or phrases
they have more confidence that the keyword is being used in context.
This confidence directly affects your ranking.
#3 Update, update, update.
Add new content to your website frequently. Search engines look for
new content when determining website rank. If you’re continually
adding new, keyword optimized, content, the search engines will
recognize this and respond favorably.
Here are a few ideas for regular content:
* Write a blog
* Post new articles each week
* Host a discussion forum where post content for you
* Download free articles from relevant sites, reprint and post these
* Write reviews of your products
The next strategy to improve your search engine ranking lies in the
number of links leading to your website.
