Word of mouth marketing works like a jungle fire as far as spreading an information or a feedback is concerned. Word of mouth travels very fast.. Word of mouth is actually a voluntary generation of feedback by a customer, based upon his or her experience with your products and services. But, to generate a feedback, your target market needs to know that you are in business.

Word Of Mouth Marketing As An Awareness Tool

For a new start up, word of mouth is more of an awareness campaign wherein you contact your prime prospective customers by various methods and they spread a word about you being in business and about your products and services. This is a neutral feedback system about your products and services but with a positive reinforcement of persuading the people indirectly for trying your offerings for the first time. You can use the following ways to spread words about your business’ existence:

Acquaintances: Approach your near and dear ones primarily, followed by contacting the other people you know. Initially you may adopt a general spread of your information but soon streamline it to your target market. Approach people who are your prospective customers.

Mailers: You can use email or postcards or pamphlets about your business to inform your acquaintances prior to calling them.

Networking: Your and your customers’ social network is the backbone of the word of mouth marketing. You need to have a prolific social networking to have a database of the prospective customers. You can network by joining various organizations, by participating in various events and expos.

Neighbors: Visit your neighbors or other people in your area where you live or your business is in. These people know you well and if you have good terms with many of them, if not all, then nothing like it. These people can be potential prospective customers and spread word about your being in business.

Website: It’s the Internet age. Establish your website with easy keywords use to get favorable results from the search engines. Also, keep your website, user-friendly with easy navigation and complete updated information about everything regarding your business.

Online networking: Join various online network sites to proliferate your and your company’s name in the online world. Online networking works faster if you have a genuine and potential network.

Listing: Get yourself listed in various online yellow pages. This will also help spread the word of mouth about your business.

Word of mouth has stood the tests of time and every business resorts to it because of its effectiveness. The above methods should help you get noticed at places where people will spread the right words about you and your business.
